Assembling Nature: Discursive-Material Struggles between Anthropocentrism and Ecocentrism

By Nico Carpentier, Vaia Doudaki
and Kirill Filimonov

Intellect

The book theorizes and analyses how a diversity of media and art products and projects engage in political struggles over the environment and human–nature relationships, and how the discursive-material assemblages of anthropocentrism and ecocentrism play a vital role in these struggles. Supported by an extensive theoretical framework, the book first
reports on a large-scale mapping project before discussing eight case studies encompassing Facebook groups, documentaries, factual and fictional TV series, and an arts exhibition. The book concludes by presenting a map of
discursive assemblages on the environment.
