Welcome Message from the Director
Dear colleagues,
Welcome to the first edition of the CULCORC Newsletter. We are delighted to bring you new research highlights from our members, updates on our ongoing projects, announcements of upcoming events, and a glimpse of our recent media appearances. We hope these insights continue to inspire and inform your engagement with CULCORC.
As a research unit affiliated with the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, CULCORC is committed to advancing the study of culture and communication. Since our founding in 2022, we have sought to deepen our understanding of the meaning-generating processes shaped by communicational exchanges.
In this spirit, we hope this newsletter not only showcases the achievements and ongoing work of our research centre but also inspires critical dialogue about the role of media, communication, and culture in shaping the world around us. We encourage you to remain actively involved and look forward to our continued collaboration.
Warm regards,
Nico Carpentier, Director of CULCORC

Czech Citizens’ Parliaments
In 2025, CULCORC organised the Citizen Parliament on the role of media in democratic societies. This parliament convened four times between March and May.
The theme was media and democracy. Participants reflected on the role of media in strengthening Czech democracy, structuring the media landscape to better serve democratic goals, and enhancing citizen participation in and through the media.
The Resolutions Report of the Czech Citizen Parliament on Media and Democracy is now available in English and Czech.
