Communicating Narratives, Imaginaries and Epistemes of Hope

The joint IAMCR Communication, Social Justice and Democracy Working Group conference and ECREA 2026 pre-conference “Communicating Narratives, Imaginaries and Epistemes of Hope” will take place on 7 September 2026 at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, Charles University, Prague.

The conference focuses on hope as a communicative force in media, culture, and public discourse, exploring how narratives and imaginaries of hope shape democratic futures, justice, peace, and social change across diverse contexts. Abstract submission deadline is the 10th of May 2026.

The conference is scheduled for the day before the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) 2026 main conference begins. Brno, the host city of this year’s ECREA conference, is approximately a 2.5–3 hour train ride from Prague, with very frequent connections.
